Not every issue needs a technician. Here are simple maintenance tasks any homeowner can do to keep their Viking appliances running smoothly.
Monthly Maintenance Tasks
Set a monthly reminder to clean your range hood filters in warm soapy water, wipe down oven door gaskets with a damp cloth, check that all burners light evenly, and clear any debris from the dishwasher filter. These quick tasks take less than 30 minutes and prevent most common issues.
Keeping Your Range in Shape
Remove burner grates and caps weekly for cleaning. Soak them in warm soapy water and scrub gently. Check that the igniter spark appears on each burner when you turn the knob. Clean around the igniters carefully with a dry brush. Avoid getting water directly on the igniters.
Refrigerator Care
Vacuum the condenser coils behind or underneath your refrigerator every six months. Clean the drain pan if your model has one. Check the door gaskets for a tight seal. Organize food to allow proper air circulation. Do not block the vents inside the refrigerator.
Oven Basics
Wipe up spills as soon as the oven cools down after cooking. Major spills in the oven can smoke and even catch fire during the next use. Use the self-cleaning cycle no more than a few times per year to avoid excess wear on components. Check the oven light and replace it when needed.
When to Stop and Call Us
DIY maintenance has limits. If you smell gas, see sparking, hear unusual noises, or if something does not look right, stop and give us a call. Gas and electrical issues should always be handled by professionals. It is always better to be safe and ask for help than to risk injury or damage.
